Opera Japan Orfeo

Japan Orfeo is a visionary East-meets-West re-interpretation of Monteverdi’s masterpiece Orfeo (1607). The story which derives from the classical Greek myth Orfeo, bears a close resemblance and pays homage to the Japanese myth of Izanami and Izanagi. Masterminded by Music Director Aaron Carpene and Director Stefano Vizioli, and produced by Friendship Bridge Classical Music & Arts Society in Tokyo, the world premiere of Japan Orfeo will take place at the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura, one of Japan’s most venerated and spiritually sacred sites, and the prestigious Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.
